Promoting Volunteerism Developing the Potential of Women Improving Our Communities

Helping Hands

Helping Hands supports the JLM mission of improving the community by meeting short-term needs and providing JLM members with diverse opportunities for hands-on volunteer experience.  In our 2008-2009 League year, our Helping Hands projects positively impacted over 1,000 people.

Activities can vary year by year, with everything from collection drives for organizations such as Bridging to delivering food and company through Meals On Wheels, to serving dinner to kids and the staff at The Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery.  In addition, Helping Hands organizes our JLM Impact Days, where we look to leverage the full power of our membership to showcase the JLM's dedication to community service!    In January 2009, our League packed over 12,000 lbs of food at Second Harvest Heartland and assembled nearly 90 pieces of furniture at Bridging, Inc. as part of our Impact Days.  Impact Days this year will coincide with National Volunteer Week, April 10-16, 2011.

If you have ideas for the Helping Hands committee or would like to work with the JLM on an Impact Day, please contact Helping Hands at helpinghands@jlminneapolis.org.
