American Girl FAQ

  • What it is - The American Girl Fashion Show is a fun-filled event for girls and their familes, friends and favorite dolls! Celebrate the experience of being a girl, whether yesterday or today, through a colorful presentation of historical and contemporary fashions. Enjoy elegant refreshments, enter to win prizes, and learn how clothing has changed over the years to represent history, culture, and girls' individual styles.
  • To Benefit - The American Girl Fashion Show benefits the projects and community partnerships of the Junior League of Minneapolis. Past projects include helping to found the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, Free Arts MN, and the Jeremiah Program. Current projects address such issues from hunger, to nutrition, to literacy. The Junior League of Minneapolis reaches out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism.
  • Date/ Time - The American Girl Fashion Show dates and times are:
    • Friday March 4th 2011 @ 6:00 pm (VIP Show)
    • Saturday March 5th 2011 @ 10:00 am, 2:00pm, and 6:00pm (Anniversary Show)
    • Sunday March 6th 2011 @ 10:00am and 2:00pm
  • Location - The year's event is being held at Edina Country Club at 5100 Wooddale Avenue in Edina, Minnesota.
  • Show Length- The show will last approximately 2 hours; with time before, after, and during intermission for shopping for souvenirs, partaking in our raffle,  and visiting with friends and family! 
  • Food and Drink - Catering for this year's show is through Edina Country Club. The Friday evening VIP show and Saturday's Anniversary show will provide a plated dinner. The Saturday and Sunday morning shows will have breakfast and the afternoon shows will have lunch.
  • What to Wear and Bring - We encourage girls to bring their dolls and wear their favorite American Girl clothing or tea-party outfits. For the dinner show, girls may opt to dress-up for a special evening out. 
  • Raffle Tickets and Prizes - All ticket holders will have the chance to win wonderful door prizes. Additionally, raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the show. Raffle prizes will include an assortment of fabulous American Girl dolls and accessories as well as fabulous prizes from local retailers and services. 
  • Souvenirs - To celebrate a special day of walking down the runway, we will have American Girl souvenirs available for purchase. Additionally, we will have the full American Girl catelog to order; a percentage of these proceeds go directly to the projects of the Junior League.
