Training and Leadership Development

Central to the mission of the Junior League is developing the potential of women to be civic and community leaders. We offer a wide variety of formal and informal training opportunities to help members learn, grow, and apply their knowledge and experience.

Current training programs include:

Leadership Certification

Our leadership certification guides participants through learning the fundamentals of board service, fund development, advocacy and more, to prepare women to be catalysts for community change.

Organizational Development Institute

Offered through our parent organization, The Association of Junior Leagues International, ODI is a unique opportunity to learn about nonprofit leadership, management, and programming through the lens of meaningful Junior League participation. ODIs are hosted on a semi-annual basis at cities around the country, and the JLM financially supports members who are selected to attend as delegates.

A Spirit of Ongoing Leadership Development

In addition to the training programs listed above, The Junior League of Minneapolis seeks to develop trained volunteers and women leaders through all aspects of membership. Members are active on committees of their choice, which provides the opportunity to gain valuable skills and try new things in a safe and fun environment. Members learn how to execute successful fundraisers, run meaningful and impactful community projects, and work collaboratively with other leaders and the community at large.
