To strengthen the bond between child and parent/caretaker during a lengthy seperation, specifically children of a female parent incarcerated at the Minnesota Correctional Facility at Shakopee and children of a parent(s) being deployed through Minnesota’s Beyond the Yellow Ribbon’s Family Preparation Academies. Through the caretaker reading and the child hearing the book being read, increased learning and improvement of literacy can take place.
